The University of Houston (UH) has formally accepted an invitation to join the Big 12 Conference, a collegiate athletic coalition and NCAA Division I member.
In a statement released on Friday, UH President Renu Khator and Vice President of Intercollegiate Athletics Chris Pezman said joining the Big 12 Conference will “benefit the University financially, will help us recruit even more elite student-athletes, will create a broader national platform for the institution and will allow our student-athletes to compete against the very best, day after day.”
The Big 12 has additional member schools in Texas, Kansas, Iowa, Oklahoma, and West Virginia.
UH is expecting to play in the Big 12 as early as the fall of 2023.
