The American Conference on Diversity to Host Statewide Humanitarian Awards Fundraiser

The American Conference on Diversity, a diversity education organization headquartered in New Jersey, is hosting its annual Statewide Humanitarian Awards fundraiser on Thursday, April 7, in West Orange.

The event will pay tribute to five community leaders, including INSIGHT into Diversity Editorial Board member Deborah Degit, who will be presented with the Diversity Ambassador Award. The Luing Family, Jennifer Allyn, Sue Henderson, and Seham Abdala will also be honored.

“Our work is crucial to make sure that we are reaching as many people as possible so they don’t become targets of hate or before they’re recruited to participate in hate groups,” says American Conference on Diversity President and CEO Elizabeth Williams-Riley. “We cannot let sound bites of bigotry continue to divide us.”

The Humanitarian Awards fundraiser supports the American Conference on Diversity’s mission to build just and inclusive schools, workplaces, and communities through awareness, education, and advocacy. By bringing together top executives and community leaders, they hope to raise $300,000 to continue to provide diversity and inclusion services, including the Lead for Diversity Institute.

In addition to networking, dining, and entertainment, this year’s fundraiser will include a silent auction of artwork, sports memorabilia, and fine jewelry items. The annual event will kick off with a cocktail and networking reception at 6 p.m. at the historic Pleasantdale Château.

To purchase tickets or make auction item donations contact Gala Coordinator Barbara Getze at or (800) 626-8097. Tickets must be purchased in advance. The American Conference on Diversity is a partner of INSIGHT Into Diversity.
