New and returning Stetson University students who submit proof of their COVID-19 vaccination will have the chance to win one tuition-free school year, according to a school announcement on Friday.
Stetson, a private university in central Florida, will announce two winners for the one-year tuition awards on July 30. In addition to the lottery, other vaccination incentives will be offered, such as amusement park tickets, free campus parking, and weekly drawings for $1,000 awards to be applied to a student’s tuition bill.
As of June 4, more than 1,300 members, or 28 percent, of the Stetson community reported being fully vaccinated. The school’s goal is to reach at least 70 percent.
“[R]eaching a higher level of vaccination allows for a return to more normal, face-to-face interactions, class sessions, conferences and competitions,” a Stetson press release says.
To be eligible, undergraduate, graduate, and law students must voluntarily register their completed vaccination by July 25 through the Stetson online form.
