Johnson & Wales University (JWU) in Providence, Rhode Island, celebrated National Coming Out Day on October 11 with a “Chalk OUT!” at Gaebe Commons. Students, faculty, and staff were invited to celebrate LGBTQ pride and write messages of encouragement and support to LGBTQ members of the community through chalk designs and artwork. Later in the day, the JWU Pride Alliance invited new LGBTQ community members and allies to join their club and meet in a safe space.
