INSIGHT Into Diversity magazine is excited to announce the addition of the National Action Council for Minorities in Engineering (NACME) as a partner organization.
Since 1974, NACME has worked to ensure and create more opportunities for minorities in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) fields, with the goal of developing an engineering workforce that better reflects the nation’s overall population.
With the belief that “diversity drives innovation,” NACME specifically works to support and increase the number of successful African American, American Indian, and Latino young men and women in STEM education and careers.
In order to achieve its mission, NACME focuses on four key areas: scholarships, pre-engineering, research, and public policy. In each of these areas, NACME partners with other organizations, including middle schools, high schools, community colleges, and more; donates funds and awards grants to support initiatives, programs, and scholarships; conducts research and publishes studies on equity in engineering; and hosts events and meetings, all with a focus on supporting minority STEM students.
