INSIGHT Into Diversity magazine is excited to welcome to its Editorial Board Linda Akutagawa, president and CEO of Leadership Education for Asian Pacifics, Inc. (LEAP). LEAP is a national nonprofit organization whose mission is to achieve full participation and equality for Asian and Pacific Islanders (APIs) through leadership, empowerment, and policy.
In her current role, Akutagawa is responsible for the organization’s strategic direction, sustainability, relationships, and collaborations. Herself a beneficiary of LEAP’s leadership programming, she has been a passionate social entrepreneur for more than 20 years and has dedicated herself to continuing the cycle of leadership development and inspiring APIs to aspire to leadership roles in all sectors of society.
“We are honored to welcome Akutagawa to the INSIGHT Into Diversity Editorial Board,” says Lenore Pearlstein, co-publisher of INSIGHT Into Diversity magazine. “Her experience as an entrepreneur and advocate, as well as her deep commitment to the work of diversity and equity, provides her a special understanding of some of the most important leadership issues faced by Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders.”
Akutagawa is also vice chair and an appointed member of the California Department of Insurance Diversity Task Force. Furthermore, she is a member of the Southern California Edison Consumer Advisory Panel and the Asian/Asian American Institute Advisory Board at California State University, Los Angeles, as well as a board member of Japanese American Community Services, a community grant-making organization.
She earned a bachelor of science in international business, with a minor in economics, from California State University, Los Angeles.
