INSIGHT Into Diversity is pleased to welcome Sonja Feist-Price, PhD, as the newest member of the magazine’s Editorial Board. Feist-Price currently serves as vice president for institutional diversity at the University of Kentucky (UK).

In this position, she advises the president and provost on all academic, fiscal, programmatic, and administrative policy decisions regarding the university’s diversity and inclusivity goals. She also leads the development and implementation of an annual assessment of the university’s diversity plan and engages with diversity issues in the community, Commonwealth of Kentucky, and beyond.

As a senior administrative officer, Feist-Price is responsible for promoting collaboration among all members of the university community — students, faculty, staff, and administrators — in an earnest pursuit of UK’s diversity agenda.

Since 1992, Feist-Price has been a member of UK’s faculty and matriculated through the faculty ranks to professor. She holds a faculty appointment in the department of early childhood, special education, and rehabilitation counseling. Her training as a licensed psychologist, certified rehabilitation counselor, licensed professional clinical counselor, and trained mediator all complement her leadership abilities.

In her immediate past role, Feist-Price served as the senior assistant provost for faculty affairs. She was involved in all matters relating to the faculty lifecycle, including recruitment, promotion, retention, and retirement. She also served as UK’s academic ombudsman, working with campus constituents on academic matters.

Other leadership roles held by Feist-Price include director of African American and Africana Studies and Research Program and chair of the Kentucky ACE Women’s Network.

Feist-Price has conducted extensive, externally-funded scholarly research, authoring numerous scholarly publications and making many presentations at international, national, and regional conferences.  She is the recipient of numerous awards from academic institutions and councils, including Rehabilitation Researcher of the Year, Exceptional Researcher of the Year, and Teacher Who Made a Difference.
