INSIGHT Into Diversity magazine is proud to announce its partnership with the nonprofit Higher Education Recruitment Consortium (HERC).
HERC was launched in Northern California in 2000 to allow colleges and universities to collaborate on the recruitment of faculty, staff, and administrators. This first regional chapter — comprised of Stanford University, the University of California at Santa Cruz, and the University of California, Berkeley — paved the way for the national organization, which formed in 2007 to support regional efforts.
HERC has since grown to include more than 700 higher education institutions, hospitals, research labs, government agencies, and related organizations nationwide — all of which share a commitment to hiring the most diverse and talented faculty, staff, and executives.
Each regional HERC chapter maintains an online list of all job openings at member institutions. But beyond connecting diverse candidates with positions at HERC member institutions, the organization also focuses on assisting dual career couples in their job search.
To aid its member institutions, HERC provides resources and information on best practices and creates opportunities for members to work together to strategically address issues around diverse recruitment and hiring.
