NC A&T Hosts Bank of America Leader on Loan
You have always been able to borrow a library book, study notes, or a pencil. Now, you can borrow a skilled leader!
As institutions continuously seek new ways to prepare students for robust career paths, North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University (NC A&T) has created a unique way to do so through the Bank of America (BOA) Leader on Loan program.
Leader on Loan places a skilled BOA specialist in a leadership role at a nonprofit or educational organization for 12-18 months to share knowledge and guidance at no cost to the organization. These seasoned professionals equip the organizations they serve with valuable insights.
In January, NC A&T welcomed Eboni Johnson as their director of strategic workforce initiatives. A Charlotte native now residing in Greensboro, Johnson brings not only business expertise to the role, but also her rich understanding of the surrounding area and its unique needs.
“I’m thrilled to join NC A&T State University as their director of strategic workforce initiatives during my Bank of America Leader on Loan appointment,” Johnson said in a statement. “Both organizations are committed to investing in the communities where we live and serve. It is exciting and feels like true synergy.”
Johnson, who holds a bachelor’s in business administration with a concentration in human resources management from North Carolina State University, has supported BOA’s HR initiatives in the global technology division and contributed to workforce development efforts since 2020. She co-chairs the BOA Black Professional Group in the Triad region, and offers mentorship through the local employee development program.
In her role at NC A&T, Johnson works closely with university leaders to broaden opportunities for nonSTEM students, fortify regional relationships, and revitalize the Office of Career Services, while improving strategic positioning and facilitating collaboration with stakeholders.
Her appointment builds on the college’s longstanding partnership with BOA and corresponds with the school’s Preeminence 2030 plan, which prioritizes the strengthening of academics, research, and community service while amplifying its impact as a leading historically Black research institution.
“Welcoming Ms. Johnson to NC A&T as a Bank of America Leader on Loan marks an exciting chapter in our partnership,” said Vice Provost for Engagement and Outreach Rosalind Dale, EdD, in a statement. “[which] will help us identify innovative strategies to enhance campus engagement and enrich services across several academic units. We are particularly excited about leveraging this relationship to expand opportunities for non-STEM majors, opening new pathways for their success.”
Under Johnson’s leadership, the university is multiplying student opportunities, bolstering community ties, and advancing workforce development—outcomes that other universities can emulate by similarly leveraging industry expertise, aligning alliances with their institutional goals, and broadening career pathways to build sustainable collaborations that better prepare future professionals for the ever-evolving job market.
