J.R. Hipple

CEO of Hipple & Co. Reputation Management

J.R. Hipple, CEO of Hipple & Co. Reputation Management, is a veteran public relations and management consultant with corporations and non-governmental organizations throughout the U.S.  He is a counselor to CEOs and other c-level executives on leadership communications, issues and crisis management, and branding. His current clients include Georgia Power, Southern Company, The University of Virginia and Virginia Commonwealth University.  He also is a senior consultant for Brain Surgery Inc., an emotion-based research and strategy firm.

J.R. was recently named chairman of the Counselors Academy of the Public Relations Society of America (PRSA).

J.R. is the chairman of the Board of Governors of the Atlanta-based Center for Ethics and Corporate Responsibility at Georgia State University, and the chair-elect of the Executive Committee of Counselors Academy, a national association of senior-level public relations consultants.  He also is an adjunct professor of strategic planning in the Public Relations Executive Masters program at Virginia Commonwealth University.

Prior to launching Hipple & Co. in 2003, J.R. was a founding partner and president of CRT Public Relations, a 65-person consulting firm based in Richmond, VA.  At the outset of his career, he was an intern to Edward L. Bernays, the father of the public relations profession. He earned an M.S. in public relations from Boston University and a B.S. in marketing-management from Miami University in Oxford, Ohio.  He and his wife Caroline H.S. Hipple live in Atlanta and have been married for 24 years.
