HUD Gives $28 Million in Grants to Combat Housing Discrimination

The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) on Oct. 6 awarded more than $28 million to 84 fair housing organizations and other non-profit agencies in 33 states and the District of Columbia to assist people who believe they have been victims of housing discrimination. This is in addition to the $10 million funding for high performing fair housing enforcement organizations awarded last month. The grants are funded through HUD’s Fair Housing Initiatives Program (FHIP) and will be used to investigate allegations of housing discrimination, and work to promote equal housing opportunities.
