Number of Women-Owned Firms Skyrocket

The last 14 years have seen some impressive advances for women-owned businesses, both in number of firms and the diversity of industries they're represented in, but there are still strides to be made, according to a recent report from American Express OPEN. The report, on the state of women-owned business, analyzes economic census data released in December, presenting information by industry, revenue and employment size. Overall, the number of women-owned businesses has increased 50 percent nationally since 1997, a growth rate that is one-and-a-half times the national average. Click here to read more.
