Diversity Lags at the University of Cincinnati as Enrollment Rises

Enrollment at the University of Cincinnati has been increasing steadily since 2002, reaching an all-time high of more than 41,000 students this past fall. Yet African American student enrollment is at its lowest point since 2000-01, when the university began tracking such statistics - 8.9 percent of the total student body, down from 11.4 percent five years ago. Even among undergraduates at the main campus in Clifton, Ohio, African American enrollment has dropped 23 percent in the last five years, from 2,722 students during the 2005-06 academic year to 2,099 students this year. African Americans now constitute 9.4 percent of main campus undergraduates, down from 14.1 percent five years ago. Click here to read more.
