 Longtime Boston Herald sports columnist Steve Buckley revealed in a moving column last week that he’s gay, a potentially groundbreaking admission considering the homophobia that plagues the sports culture. Fortunately, Buckley has received hundreds of supportive emails from throughout the country, and it was encouraging to learn that Boston Red Sox stars Kevin Youkilis and Dustin Pedroia took the time to send him their support via text messages.
