New Jersey Considers Ban on Employment Discrimination Based on Credit History

A bill being considered by the New Jersey state Senate would bar most employers from hiring based on an individual's credit history or financial status. The measure approved by the Senate labor committee on Nov. 8 would prohibit employers from making inquiries about current employees or applicants, unless a good credit history or financial status is an established "bona fide" requirement for the job.
