San Antonio Police Department Settles Gender Discrimination Case

San Antonio officials said the city's police department did nothing wrong, yet the council voted on October 21 to pay $249,000 to a high-ranking female officer, Rosemary Flammia, who sued the city and police chief William McManus in 2007 for gender discrimination. The lawsuit claimed Flammia was passed over for promotions while males with "less experience" and "fewer qualifications" were promoted to assistant chief.
