More companies are providing in-house diversity training now than in 2005 but fewer have diversity recruiting and retention programs. A survey released on October 14 by the Society for Human Resource Management found a 4 percentage point increase in staff training on diversity in the last five years, with programs in 71 percent, compared to 67 percent, of companies. But the poll also found an 8 percentage point decline in the percentage of outreach programs designed to recruit diverse workers or retain the ones they have -- 68 percent now, compared to 76 percent of companies in 2005.
