Mayo Surgeon Says New Job is More About Inclusion Than Diversity |
 Surgeon Dr. Sharonne Hayes received a new job title at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN in February but found it to be a little misleading. "I was appointed as director of diversity, but I changed the office to the office of diversity and inclusion," she said, while also adding that "diversity" highlights the differences between people, while inclusion provides benefits by including many viewpoints and getting the most out of everyone. Hayes said she realized that addressing the needs of employees from diverse backgrounds could flow directly from addressing patient needs.
