Pennsylvania Charter School Files Federal Discrimination Suit Against School District

A charter school in Monroe County, Pennsylvania composed largely of black students is suing Pocono Mountain School District in federal court in Scranton, claiming the school district's attempt to revoke its charter is motivated by racial and religious discrimination. Pocono Mountain Charter School, which has 325 students, 90 percent of whom are black, claims it is being treated differently than the Evergreen Community Charter School, whose student population is largely white.
