Diversity Supporters in North Carolina Make Their Voices Heard

On Monday night at Martin Street Baptist Church in Raleigh, NC, in what looked like a scene from the civil rights era, a crowd of 500 supporters of diversity in Wake County schools (the largest school system in North Carolina) held a candlelight vigil and sang the classic gospel hymn “This Little Light of Mine” to oppose the school board’s proposal to end busing for socioeconomic diversity. Today, barring some unforeseen dramatic change, the Wake County school board will cast its final vote to do away with this type of busing. Click here to read more.
