Star Player’s Crude Comments Shed Light on Baseball’s Diversity Problem

Although he chose his words poorly when he called Latino players "impostors" for African-Americans, Los Angeles Angels outfielder Torii Hunter was correct in pointing out the lack of black players in baseball nowadays during a recent USA Today roundtable. While there has been a slight uptick in African-American players in Major League Baseball recently, at least a handful of teams are likely to begin the 2010 season next month without a single African-American player on their opening day roster.
