Winston-Salem PD Looking to Increase Diversity |
 The police department in Winston-Salem, NC is looking to bring in recruits that more accurately reflect the city’s diverse population, but progress along these lines has been slow. Of the Winston-Salem Police Department's 529 sworn officers, 81 percent are white, 14 percent are black, and 3 percent are Hispanic. As for Winston-Salem’s population itself, 35 percent of the city’s citizens are black and 12 percent are Hispanic.
