Sergeant Sues St. Louis Police Department Alleging Discrimination

A white police sergeant sued the St. Louis Metropolitan Police department on Jan. 5, alleging that he was not promoted to a leadership position at the police academy because a senior officer wanted to "bring color down to the academy." The federal civil suit, filed by Sgt. David Bonenberger, names the department, the police board and various officials. It claims that in September 2010, when Bonenberger told the academy director, Lt. Michael Muxo, that he wanted the job as assistant director, Muxo replied that Bonenberger shouldn't bother. Lt. Col. Reggie Harris wanted a black female and wanted to "bring color down to the academy," Muxo told Bonenberger, according to the suit. Click here to read more.
